Which method of contraception after baby will you use

i dont like that it can shift and isnt really 100% due to that. if it shifts you have a chance of getting pregnant.

i dont like that you have to go back for regular checkups either for the iud or shots.

i'd have to go back and look at the pros/cons of the options and tell you more specifically.

it's expensive - i dont know how much ins would cover
theres no way of knowing if your periods will become lighter and possibly go away completely OR get heavier and longer
lots of possible side effects:
acne
change in appetite
change in sex drive
cysts on the ovaries
depression
discoloring or scarring of the skin over the implant
dizziness
hair loss
headache
nausea
nervousness
pain at the insertion site
sore breasts

it can leaving scars upon removal
you can see it through the skin when it's in place

you dont need to go back for regular checkups

gets pricey since you have to do get another shot every 3months - first shot is the most expensive and others get cheaper supposedly. no idea how much ins would cover
only recommended for continuous use for 2yrs
same period issues as with the flexi rod listed above
again lots of possible side effects
its long lasting and once you stop taking it - it can take up to a year or more to get pregnant.
causes bone thinning - its not proven that stopping will increase the density again

mid range price but not sure what ins would cover
mirena iud can reduce menstrual flow by 90%
iud can slip out of place (coming all the way out or just part way)
possible infection with insertion
iud upon insertion can be pushed through the wall of the uterus
have to regularly check the length of the strings to see if the length has changed at all in either direction
you have to get regular checkups

funny you're talking about this---the np asked me today which method I was gonna use after birth
I got info. on the iud (mirena) but I've gotta check into stuff...we shall see...

the doc said id just get my normal yearly pap and thats when it would be checked, nothing more

I'm curious to see when/if they bring it up with me this time. They asked last time and I said I wasn't going to use anything and they just told me to call them if I changed my mind.

Condoms suck - plain and simple - we planned to use them last time and we did a few times but then nixed that pretty quick.

In some ways I'm kinda like... eh whats wrong with pull out method - less internal mess/leakage to clean up the waddle to the bathroom with a towel between your legs is so not attractive

but a sure method would be nice too but i just cant fathom the complications etc. plus if you get one of these methods before you get your period - arent you likely to get your period as you would with if you start bc pills? So maybe its best if I wait it out till at least next spring/summer before making a decision? but at that point then it's only a year or two away before making another decision because I dont want kiddos spaced out hugely and the most we'd want would be 3.

its a hard choice. the shot sounds good but i dont like that it would take so long after stopping to regain fertility plus the bone density loss sounds scary.

complications with the iud can make you infertile. i mean in general thats probably the best option out of the 3 non pill options but i just dont know.

they use a device to measure how far to place the iud so they dont push it thru ur uterus

i know its not likely to have it poke through but it is a possibility. plus i wonder if where i have a tipped uterus if thatd even be an option

as for chances of still getting pregnant, regardless whatever we chose he'd still pull out...finishing inside without trying to make a baby just grosses me out and he knows that

i wish there was a method that would help with weight loss most have a chance of weight gain and thats not cool

I know she did say there wasn't the weight gain issue w/ the iud- but I def. wouldn't want to check the strings myself
But yeah, weight loss would def. be a plus

cant be much different from pulling a tampon out just donttttt pull the string

well the difference is an obvious one with the strings.... strings either hang outside or inside depending on tampon or iud. so you probably wont feel it and i bet their much smaller strings so maybe the guys wouldnt notice 'cept with fingers
