Question The debate between 2 and 3 - 02-06-10, 09:24 PM

let's discuss. I know a lot of people are content with 2. Some are even content with just 1. But what if you're not sure 2 is the right number and are questioning or debating over 3.

I've been told the transition between 2 and 3 is easier than from 1 to 2 children. I had thought about the amusement park scenerios where rows often consist of 2 or 4 - perfect for a family of 4 but not 5. Of course, Josh says he doesn't fit on most rides anyway being as tall as he is so in some ways no biggie there.

Then theres the shopping issue... new carts at some stores accomodate 2 kids but definitely not 3. Later on the oldest child wouldn't need to sit in a cart or could and the youngest could be worn.

What about being out numbered ... it was also said to me that when you're a sahm and you go from 1 to 2 kids you're already outnumbered. Ha so true which I hadn't thought about till that was mentioned. My thought was always 2 parents 2 kids - equal numbers.

I'm just not sure if 2 is what is right for me. If I'm content with that number. Do I want a bigger family? I think of gatherings and holidays as the kids are older or grown and how much fun that could be.

Anyway... just curious what your thoughts are. For yourself for or against. What is right for one person or family isn't necessarily right for another so I'm curious to hear thoughts.

I have no idea what my thoughts are
We did talk about the whole family thing (gatherings etc) and how that could be fun with more...but I just don't know...I know I don't think I could handle another now so I think- well, maybe later on, BUT I wonder if once we get past the "baby" stage if we'll want to return, ya know??? BUT before kids, I always thought 4 AND we also have Christian, so it's like is he counted in the #- I mean, obviously he is- but he's also significantly older than our two together...so, IDK

for me, it's not even a debate. i know in my heart i want atleast 1 more (god willing). ive always said 4 but we'd have to see how we felt after three...the debate for us may be going from 3 to 4. seriously dont base having another kid on how many will fit in a buggy or on a ride at an amusement park. usually women know when they're done and when their family is complete- i hope i feel the same way one day by just knowing.

oh I know but I can't help but just think about what works and what doesn't. it is true though that for the most part the world is meant for a family of 4 when you consider those scenerios. Not that I agree with it but it just makes you think.
