Default Realistic or not - winter/snow Q - 07-24-09, 03:48 PM

I know some of you may not get the whole snow thing so have an option mind

Originally I was thinking it'd be really hard to try to shovel when it snows w/2 kiddos. Knowing it's very unrealistic to consider plowing or snow blower/thrower this year we'll have to shovel - not a big deal if we aren't getting wacked with huge storms regularly like we do some years.

I just realised bebe will be 3 months before there is a good likelihood of any snow - or older. So is it more realistic that I'd be able to sneak outside a few time a day at most to help out with some shoveling? I figure Sienna can watch a movie or something when I sneak out and she can see me from the living room. Maybe bebe would be napping or maybe they could sit and play together.

I know I'll have to play it by ear - I'm just trying to think ahead I guess.

that isnt a good option - it gets cold fast and if its snowing i dont want to keep her outside either.

A couple things-
You might be able to find a deal on a snow-blower thru craigs list- maybe nothing fancy, but something that would get you thru at least this season....

2nd- guess it depends on bebe and how good of a sleeper she is... even if you can run out for a lil while and get some done it would help...

Maybe ya'll will have a decent winter with limited snow

i guess it depends how long you take...i dont think id trust Serenity to play with Camden while i did yard work, plus Camden's play attn span is about a whole 10 minutes before hes bored and ready to be held or do something different.

we dont want to spend $ on something we're just going to replace in a year or two. i know there are great deals out there but we just dont have the extra $ to get something like that - not this year anyway as it would appear.

limited snow would TOTALLY help or at least light fluffy snow and not major storms all the time would work. I figure 15-20 min spurts and I could get the driveway decent

I know it'll be a matter of waiting and seeing how it goes... I figured if I get a cheap monitor that could be transfered between Sienna's room and the living room - I could take the parent unit outside and listen to whats going on :lol;

I'll hafta see how Sienna is with her sis - maybe all will work out and either she'll be less rambunctious around her or we wont get much snow and have to worry about it

Def. something to think about, but I wouldn't stress it--- see how things are going when/if it snows

Great day, the cool and rain you've had- maybe the "winter" will be warm

we dont know our neighbors - the ones across the street dont even stop to say hi when theyre outside like people walking down the street do. the ones on one side of us are the sis and bro inlaw to the people who we bought the house from - we havent even seen them! then there are a few other people around us but for the most part people seem to keep to themselves. no families with young kids nearby that we could switch off on watching (down the street and around the corner but that isnt ideal for snowstorms). the only teens are across the street so that wont work obv

im thinking a cheap monitor and just playing it by ear with each storm is how itll have to be. i just dont want josh to get home and then have to go shovel u know? its one thing if that happens here or there or we take turns but itd be nice to not have to worry about it that late cuz come winter it gets dark at like 4!

Yeah, it does get dark early...
Plus, you want to be able to get in and out IF you have to...
