Default First solids - 02-23-10, 06:16 PM

When did you introduce solids? What did you start with?

~~~
With Sienna I waited as long as possible. It was between 7 and 8 months. I stuck with jar purees. it took a while to adjust to feeding her though. I'd forget many days. It wasn't really regulary until closer to 9 or 10 months so bad but it was a hard adjustment... just the remembering part.
Camryn is 5 1/2months and I'm itching to give her food. We're not doing rice cereal - no point for most babies. We didn't do it with Sienna either. I think she's ready, plus she seems very jealous of us all getting to eat stuff. She's always trying to steal Sienna's food and drink when she leaves it on the floor... which I then have to remind her for the umpteenth time that she can't leave stuff around sister.
So antsy... can I wait the final 2 weeks?
What's two weeks? Serenity was 4 months, but formula fed by then. Camden closer to 6 when we let him try a couple things (first was sweet potato) He's still mostly on the boob though and it isnt as regular as it was with Serenity, he eats table foods now though but occasionally he'll eat something pureed or whatever. Some days he's super hungry and wants lots of food others he just wants meeee
2 weeks and she'll be 6 months. that's the earliest I said I'd give her solids. Just trying to hold out.
what's the big deal about waiting 2 weeks other than that's what you said?
Sure... you can give stuff prior to 6 months if you want but it's best to wait. I know that a few weeks won't make a difference though.
Yeah I know. I was SO shocked how many people on babycenter started at 4 months and really pushed it. Just nutty.
I can't wait to give her the gerber puffs and yogurt
he's so weird about it, he just wants to smush everything and make a mess instead of eating...but sometimes ill put something in front of him and he shovels it in like he's starving he really loves yogurt, he can eat a whole container and whine for more! he's gonna eat more than Serenity soon
Let's see- I know that rice cereal was what we started Jackson on...as for mixing in baby food- probably green beans or sweet potato...
I started giving Austin rice cereal this week (or last ) and then mixed in bananas...tried green beans tonight- he didn't like em, so I tossed that and just fed him plain rice cereal
Oh...but Jackson, I did differently- think I gave him the rice cereal and then the other cereals at 4 mos (or so) and then didn't give him baby food until he was 5-6 mos- so he had just the cereal for a lil while...
